Vikatgad Peb Fort derives its name from the local goddess ‘Pebi’ and is popularly known as ‘Vikatgad Fort’ because its topmost peak is shaped like the elephant-headed God, Lord Ganesha. Also, as per historical references, this fort was used for storing grains during the reign of Shivaji Maharaj.
The trek starts from a base in Neral town and it takes about 3 hours to reach the fort. It is an easy trek, with the slightly difficult paths involving a small rock patch and a ladder.
