The Buran Ghati Trek is one of the most spectacular Himalayan crossover treks in Himachal Pradesh, offering an incredible combination of dense pine forests, traditional Himalayan villages, vast alpine meadows, pristine glacial lakes, snow-covered mountain passes, thrilling rappelling sections, and scenic river valleys.
Beginning from the beautiful village of Janglik, the trail gradually ascends through lush forests and colourful meadows towards Dayara and Litham before reaching the sacred Chandranahan Lake, believed to be the origin of the Pabbar River. The expedition then climbs to the majestic Buran Ghati Pass at approximately 4,575 metres, where trekkers witness breathtaking views of snow-clad Himalayan peaks before descending through thrilling snow slopes and glacier fields into the picturesque Barua Valley.
This trek is considered one of the finest beginner-friendly Himalayan crossover expeditions as it offers a complete mountain experience including forests, meadows, campsites, alpine lakes, glaciers, snow fields, waterfalls, river crossings, and traditional Himachali villages.

- Buran Ghati Pass Trek is suitable for beginners with good physical fitness and prior trekking preparation.
- The trek reaches a maximum altitude of approximately 4,575 metres (15,010 ft) where proper acclimatization is essential.
- Snow conditions vary depending on the season. Snow descent and rappelling are conducted only when deemed safe by the Trek Leader.
- Weather in the Himalayas changes rapidly. Participants should be prepared for rain, snowfall, strong winds, and sudden temperature drops.
- Proper trekking shoes with excellent grip are mandatory.
- Mobile network is available only in a few villages and remains unavailable for most of the trekking route.
- Charging facilities are extremely limited after leaving the base village.
- Carry sufficient warm clothing, waterproof gear, sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves, woollen cap, and personal medicines.
- Respect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem by avoiding littering and minimizing environmental impact.
- Follow all instructions issued by the Trek Leader and local guides.
- The itinerary may be modified depending on weather, snow conditions, government regulations, trail safety, or participant well-being.
Safety & Risk Awareness
At Adventure Club Pune, participant safety is our highest priority. Every Himalayan expedition is led by experienced Trek Leaders, certified local guides, proper camping staff, technical support teams, and emergency preparedness measures.
The Buran Ghati Trek involves high-altitude trekking, glacier crossings, steep mountain ascents, seasonal snowfields, technical snow descents, river crossings, rocky trails, and remote camping locations where immediate medical assistance may not always be available.
Participants acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to follow all safety instructions throughout the expedition.
Rules & Regulations
- Consumption of alcohol, smoking, or any intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited throughout the expedition. Any participant found under the influence will be removed from the trek without refund.
- Participants must respect the Himalayan environment, local culture, villages, and fellow trekkers at all times.
- Littering is strictly prohibited. Carry back all non-biodegradable waste and help preserve the pristine Himalayan ecosystem.
- Loud music, shouting, or creating disturbances at campsites, villages, temples, or forest areas is not permitted.
- Participants must strictly follow the instructions and decisions of the Trek Leader and local guide. Their decision regarding safety and itinerary shall be final.
- Certain sections of the trek involve steep climbs, rocky ridges, exposed mountain terrain, and high-altitude walking. Participants are expected to exercise caution and take responsibility for their personal safety.
- Any misconduct, harassment, abusive behaviour, or actions affecting the safety or comfort of other participants will result in immediate removal from the expedition without refund.
- Adventure Club Pune provides basic first aid and emergency assistance; however, all expenses related to medical treatment, evacuation, hospitalization, rescue operations, or transportation shall be borne by the participant.
- Participants are advised not to carry expensive jewellery or unnecessary valuables. The organizer shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, or damage.
- Damaging campsite equipment, forest property, local village property, or disturbing wildlife is strictly prohibited and may invite legal action.
- Travel and medical insurance covering high-altitude trekking is strongly recommended for all participants.
- The booking amount is non-refundable if cancelled by the participant unless covered under the official cancellation policy.
- Every expedition operates with a minimum of 12 confirmed participants. If the minimum number is not achieved, Adventure Club Pune may offer an alternate departure, reschedule the batch, or provide a refund as applicable.
- Himalayan trekking camps are basic mountain camps and are not comparable to hotel or resort accommodations.
- Meals served during the expedition are simple, nutritious, freshly prepared, and suitable for trekking conditions.
- A dedicated WhatsApp coordination group will be created approximately 24–48 hours before departure for important updates and coordination.
- Pickup points, reporting times, or transportation schedules may change due to operational requirements. Participants will be informed in advance whenever possible.
- The itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions, snowfall, landslides, road closures, government regulations, altitude-related safety concerns, or other unavoidable circumstances.

Health & Fitness Declaration
By registering for this expedition, participants confirm that:
- They are voluntarily participating in the trek.
- They are physically and mentally fit for multi-day high-altitude trekking.

- They understand that trekking above 3,000 metres involves increased physical exertion and the possibility of altitude-related illnesses.
Participant Consent & Assumption Of Risk
Participation in this Himalayan trek is entirely voluntary.
Adventure Club Pune undertakes reasonable measures to organize and conduct the expedition safely through experienced trek leaders, local guides, proper planning, camping support, and basic emergency preparedness.
However, Himalayan trekking involves inherent risks that cannot be completely eliminated, including but not limited to:
- Slips, trips, falls, and minor injuries
- High-altitude sickness (AMS)
- Steep mountain terrain
- Rocky trails and loose stones
- Snow, rain, and adverse weather
- River and stream crossings
- Landslides and falling rocks
- Delayed access to medical facilities
- Natural hazards beyond human control

Travel & Medical Insurance
Participants are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel, trekking, medical, and personal accident insurance that includes high-altitude trekking coverage before joining the expedition.
Unless specifically mentioned under inclusions, Adventure Club Pune does not provide individual insurance coverage.
Any expenses relating to medical treatment, evacuation, rescue operations, hospitalization, transportation, insurance claims, or personal emergencies shall be borne by the participant and/or their insurer.
Weather, Natural Conditions & Force Majeure
