Overview

The Chandrakhani Pass Trek is one of Himachal Pradesh's most scenic and beginner-friendly high-altitude Himalayan treks. Starting from the beautiful town of Manali, this five-day adventure takes trekkers through traditional Himalayan villages, dense pine, oak and deodar forests, lush alpine meadows, and spectacular ridgelines before reaching the magnificent Chandrakhani Pass at an altitude of 3,700 m (12,100 ft).

This trek offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the Pir Panjal, Dhauladhar, Parvati, and Deo Tibba mountain ranges. Along the journey, trekkers experience peaceful campsites surrounded by alpine grasslands, colorful wildflowers, and breathtaking Himalayan sunsets.

Important Notes

  • This trek is suitable for beginners with good physical fitness and prior walking experience. Regular exercise before the trek is recommended.
  • Chandrakhani Pass reaches an altitude of 3,700 m (12,100 ft). Participants should be prepared for cold weather and high-altitude conditions.
  • Acclimatization is an important part of the itinerary. Follow the Trek Leader's instructions to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.
  • Weather in the Himalayas can change rapidly. Be prepared for rain, cold winds, and sudden temperature drops, even during summer.
  • Carry proper trekking shoes with excellent grip. Sports shoes or casual footwear are not permitted.
  • Mobile network connectivity is limited and may not be available beyond Rumsu Village.
  • Electricity and charging facilities are limited at campsites. Carry a fully charged power bank.
  • Carry warm clothing, waterproof gear, gloves, woollen cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, and personal medicines.
  • Respect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Do not litter or disturb wildlife and local communities.
  • Follow all instructions given by the Trek Leader throughout the trek.
  • The itinerary may change due to weather conditions, trail conditions, government regulations, or participant safety.

Safety & Risk Awareness

At Adventure Club Pune, participant safety is our highest priority. Every Himalayan trek is conducted with experienced trek leaders, certified local guides, proper camping equipment, route planning, weather monitoring, and basic emergency preparedness.

Trekking in the Himalayas takes place in remote mountain terrain where certain risks cannot be completely eliminated. Participants may encounter steep ascents, rocky trails, loose stones, slippery paths, snow patches (seasonal), river crossings, cold weather, high altitude, limited medical access, and rapidly changing weather conditions.

By joining this trek, participants acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to follow all safety instructions provided by the Trek Leader throughout the expedition.


Rules & Regulations

  • Consumption of alcohol, smoking, or any intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited throughout the expedition. Any participant found under the influence will be removed from the trek without refund.
  • Participants must respect the Himalayan environment, local culture, villages, and fellow trekkers at all times.
  • Littering is strictly prohibited. Carry back all non-biodegradable waste and help preserve the pristine Himalayan ecosystem.
  • Loud music, shouting, or creating disturbances at campsites, villages, temples, or forest areas is not permitted.
  • Participants must strictly follow the instructions and decisions of the Trek Leader and local guide. Their decision regarding safety and itinerary shall be final.
  • Certain sections of the trek involve steep climbs, rocky ridges, exposed mountain terrain, and high-altitude walking. Participants are expected to exercise caution and take responsibility for their personal safety.
  • Any misconduct, harassment, abusive behaviour, or actions affecting the safety or comfort of other participants will result in immediate removal from the expedition without refund.
  • Adventure Club Pune provides basic first aid and emergency assistance; however, all expenses related to medical treatment, evacuation, hospitalization, rescue operations, or transportation shall be borne by the participant.
  • Participants are advised not to carry expensive jewellery or unnecessary valuables. The organizer shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, or damage.
  • Damaging campsite equipment, forest property, local village property, or disturbing wildlife is strictly prohibited and may invite legal action.
  • Travel and medical insurance covering high-altitude trekking is strongly recommended for all participants.
  • The booking amount is non-refundable if cancelled by the participant unless covered under the official cancellation policy.
  • Every expedition operates with a minimum of 12 confirmed participants. If the minimum number is not achieved, Adventure Club Pune may offer an alternate departure, reschedule the batch, or provide a refund as applicable.
  • Himalayan trekking camps are basic mountain camps and are not comparable to hotel or resort accommodations.
  • Meals served during the expedition are simple, nutritious, freshly prepared, and suitable for trekking conditions.
  • A dedicated WhatsApp coordination group will be created approximately 24–48 hours before departure for important updates and coordination.
  • Pickup points, reporting times, or transportation schedules may change due to operational requirements. Participants will be informed in advance whenever possible.
  • The itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions, snowfall, landslides, road closures, government regulations, altitude-related safety concerns, or other unavoidable circumstances.
  • By registering for this expedition, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to all Adventure Club Pune Terms & Conditions.

Health & Fitness Declaration

By registering for this expedition, participants confirm that:

  • They are voluntarily participating in the trek.
  • They are physically and mentally fit for multi-day high-altitude trekking.
  • They do not suffer from any medical condition that may endanger themselves or other participants.
  • They will disclose any existing medical condition, allergy, injury, or medication requirement before the trek.
  • They understand that trekking above 3,000 metres involves increased physical exertion and the possibility of altitude-related illnesses.

Participant Consent & Assumption Of Risk

Participation in this Himalayan trek is entirely voluntary.

Adventure Club Pune undertakes reasonable measures to organize and conduct the expedition safely through experienced trek leaders, local guides, proper planning, camping support, and basic emergency preparedness.

However, Himalayan trekking involves inherent risks that cannot be completely eliminated, including but not limited to:

  • Slips, trips, falls, and minor injuries
  • High-altitude sickness (AMS)
  • Steep mountain terrain
  • Rocky trails and loose stones
  • Snow, rain, and adverse weather
  • River and stream crossings
  • Landslides and falling rocks
  • Delayed access to medical facilities
  • Natural hazards beyond human control

By booking and participating in this expedition, participants acknowledge these inherent risks and voluntarily assume responsibility for their participation.

Adventure Club Pune shall not be liable for incidents arising from:

  • Failure to follow Trek Leader instructions
  • Concealment of medical conditions
  • Negligent or reckless actions by participants
  • Altitude-related complications
  • Natural events beyond reasonable control
  • Violation of expedition guidelines

Nothing in this declaration shall limit liability arising from proven gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the organizer.


Travel & Medical Insurance

Participants are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel, trekking, medical, and personal accident insurance that includes high-altitude trekking coverage before joining the expedition.

Unless specifically mentioned under inclusions, Adventure Club Pune does not provide individual insurance coverage.

Any expenses relating to medical treatment, evacuation, rescue operations, hospitalization, transportation, insurance claims, or personal emergencies shall be borne by the participant and/or their insurer.


Weather, Natural Conditions & Force Majeure

Adventure Club Pune reserves the right to modify, postpone, reroute, reschedule, or cancel the expedition in the interest of participant safety.
