Itinerary

Day 1: Meet At Dimapur And Drive To Khonoma

• 06:30 AM: Meet the Adventure Club Pune team representative at Dimapur Railway Station.

• Begin the journey towards Khonoma Village.

• Travel through the scenic mountain roads of Nagaland.

• The Dimapur–Khonoma journey may take approximately 4 hours or longer depending on road conditions and traffic.

• Reach Khonoma, known for its community-led conservation traditions and beautiful village surroundings.

• Check in at the homestay.

• Take some time to freshen up and relax.

• Explore the village on a guided walking tour.

• Learn about local traditions, customs, stories and the cultural heritage of the village.

• Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Khonoma.

• Dinner and overnight stay at the village homestay.

Day 2: Village Walking Tour & Hidden Waterfall

• Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the homestay.

• Begin the day's exploration at a relaxed pace.

• Drive towards a village area with limited or no mobile network connectivity.

• Explore the village and experience the traditional rural lifestyle.

• Enjoy a short hike towards a hidden waterfall.

• Explore the surrounding natural landscape.

• Experience local village life and seasonal agricultural activities, subject to local availability.

• Return towards the homestay.

• Evening campfire at the property, subject to weather and local conditions.

Day 3: Trek To Dzukou Valley

• Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the homestay.

• Pack only the basic essentials required for the trek.

• Drive towards Vishwema Village, the starting point of the Dzukou Valley trek.

• Begin the trek towards Dzukou Valley.

• The initial climb towards the first viewpoint of Dzukou Valley involves approximately 2 hours of gradual uphill hiking, subject to group pace and trail conditions.

• Continue with approximately 30 minutes of relatively flatter walking through the valley landscape.

• Enjoy the spectacular scenery of Dzukou Valley.

• Reach the campsite and settle into the dome camps.

• Relax and explore the surrounding area as permitted.

• Enjoy dinner at the campsite.

• Overnight stay in dome camps at Dzukou Valley.

Day 4: Dzukou Valley & Hornbill Festival

• Early morning: Wake up and enjoy the magnificent views of Dzukou Valley.

• Enjoy a simple sandwich breakfast at the campsite.

• Begin the trek back towards the base village.

• Descend through the scenic trail towards the village.

• Return to the homestay.

• Freshen up and have lunch.

• Post lunch: Proceed towards the Hornbill Festival venue.

• Spend time exploring the festival grounds, subject to venue timings and access.

• Experience traditional performances, cultural displays, local food, handicrafts and festival activities.

• Return to the homestay after the festival visit.

• Enjoy dinner.

• Overnight stay at the property.

Day 5: Hornbill Festival Grand Closing Ceremony

• Early morning: Enjoy breakfast at the homestay.

• Begin an approximately 2-hour village tour.

• Explore the local surroundings and experience the cultural landscape of Nagaland.

• Proceed towards the Hornbill Festival venue.

• Spend the day at the festival and experience the grand closing celebrations.

• Explore cultural performances, traditional Naga communities, music, food, handicrafts and festival activities.

• Enjoy the festival at your own pace while following venue rules and group coordination instructions.

• Return to the homestay at your own pace as coordinated by the tour team.

• Enjoy dinner.

• Overnight stay at the property.

Day 6: Departure From Dimapur

• Early morning: Breakfast as per the departure schedule.

• Around 06:00 AM: Check out from the homestay.

• Begin the return journey towards Dimapur.

• Reach Dimapur with sufficient time for your onward travel, subject to traffic and road conditions.

• The recommended flight departure is around 12:40 PM, subject to the participant's confirmed booking.

• Tour concludes in Dimapur with wonderful memories of Nagaland.

Alternative onward travel: Participants may also choose an overnight train from Dimapur towards Guwahati, subject to availability and their own booking arrangements.

Safety & Risk Awareness

• The Dzukou Valley trek involves uphill and downhill walking over natural mountain terrain.
• Participants should have reasonable physical fitness and be comfortable with prolonged walking.
• Trail conditions may change due to rain, fog, cold weather or other natural conditions.
• Participants must remain with the designated group and follow instructions from the trek lead.
• Do not attempt unsafe shortcuts or enter restricted sections of the trail.
• Participants must not separate from the group without informing the trek lead or tour coordinator.
• Emergency response facilities in remote areas may be limited and evacuation may take time.
• Participants are responsible for carrying their prescribed medicines and informing the tour team of relevant medical requirements.

Special Safety Advisory

Dzukou Valley High-Altitude & Remote Trek

Dzukou Valley is a remote mountain destination with limited infrastructure and potentially changing weather conditions.

Participants must be prepared for:

• Cold temperatures
• Strong winds
• Fog and reduced visibility
• Slippery trails
• Steep uphill/downhill sections
• Limited mobile connectivity
• Basic campsite facilities
• Delayed emergency response

The trek lead's decision regarding route, pace, rest stops, turnaround points and continuation of the trek shall be final and binding in the interest of participant safety.

Rules And Regulations

• Minimum Group Requirement: Every tour/event operates with a minimum requirement of 12 confirmed participants. If the minimum number is not achieved, Adventure Club Pune reserves the right to offer an alternate tour/itinerary, reschedule the booking to the next available batch, or provide a full refund, as applicable to the situation.
• Valid Identification: Every participant must carry a valid government-issued photo identification document throughout the tour and must produce it whenever required for travel, accommodation, permits, festival entry or official verification.
• Permit & Authority Compliance: Participants must strictly follow all applicable government, forest, village, festival, security and local authority regulations.
• Restricted Areas: Participants must not enter restricted, prohibited or unsafe areas without explicit permission from the concerned authorities or tour coordinator.
• Tour Coordinator's Authority: The instructions and decisions of the Adventure Club Pune tour coordinator, driver or designated trek lead regarding route, timings, group movement, trekking pace, activity participation and safety shall be final and binding.
• Punctuality: Participants must report at the designated locations and timings communicated by the tour team. Delays caused by individual participants may affect the group schedule and shall be the responsibility of the concerned participant.
• Responsible Behaviour: Any abusive, threatening, disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate behaviour towards fellow participants, local communities, staff, drivers or accommodation personnel will not be tolerated.
• Alcohol & Intoxicants: Consumption or possession of intoxicants during trekking activities, transportation or wherever prohibited by local rules is strictly prohibited. Any participant whose behaviour creates a safety or disciplinary concern may be removed from the activity/tour without refund, depending on the circumstances.
• Environmental Responsibility: Littering, damaging vegetation, polluting water sources, damaging public property or disturbing wildlife is strictly prohibited.
• Cultural Respect: Participants must respect local communities, traditions, villages, religious places and cultural practices.
• Accommodation: Participants are responsible for any damage, breakage or additional charges caused to the homestay, campsite or other accommodation property due to negligence or misconduct.
• Personal Belongings: Adventure Club Pune shall not be responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings, valuables, electronics, cash or documents.
• Medical & Emergency Expenses: Medical treatment, hospitalization, medication, emergency transportation, evacuation and other personal medical expenses shall be borne by the participant.
• Itinerary Changes: Adventure Club Pune reserves the right to modify, reroute, postpone, shorten or cancel any part of the itinerary when required due to weather, road conditions, trail conditions, local restrictions, festival authorities, government instructions, safety concerns or other circumstances beyond reasonable control.
• Force Majeure: The organizer shall not be responsible for delays, changes or additional expenses caused by natural disasters, extreme weather, landslides, road closures, strikes, government restrictions, festival restrictions, transportation disruptions or other unforeseen circumstances.
• Participation Compliance: Participants who refuse to follow reasonable safety instructions or create a safety risk may be restricted from participating in an activity or removed from the tour, depending on the circumstances.
• Acceptance of Terms: By making the booking/payment and participating in the tour, the participant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted the itinerary, inclusions, exclusions, safety requirements, additional charges, rules and applicable terms and conditions.

Health & Fitness Declaration

Participants should be physically fit for long-distance travel, village walks and the Dzukou Valley trek.

The Dzukou Valley section involves uphill and downhill trekking and requires reasonable stamina and walking ability.

Participants with medical conditions that may be affected by trekking, cold weather, altitude, prolonged walking or remote travel should consult a qualified medical professional before participating.

Participants are responsible for carrying their prescribed medicines and informing the tour team about relevant medical requirements.

Participant Consent & Assumption Of Risk

By participating in the tour, the participant acknowledges that travel, trekking, camping and outdoor activities involve inherent risks including uneven terrain, slips and falls, changing weather, cold temperatures, limited connectivity, road conditions, trail conditions, wildlife/insects and delayed emergency assistance.

The participant voluntarily accepts these inherent risks and agrees to follow the instructions of the tour coordinator, trek lead, driver, local representatives and authorities.

Travel & Medical Insurance

Travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended for all participants.

The cost of medical treatment, hospitalization, emergency evacuation, ambulance services, medication or other personal medical requirements shall be borne by the participant unless covered under their own valid insurance policy.

Weather, Natural Conditions & Force Majeure

Nagaland and Dzukou Valley are mountainous regions where weather and trail conditions can change rapidly.

The itinerary may be modified, rerouted, delayed, postponed or cancelled due to heavy rain, fog, strong winds, extreme cold, landslides, poor trail conditions, road closures, festival restrictions, government instructions or other unavoidable circumstances.

No specific activity, sightseeing point, festival performance or trail section can be guaranteed when access is restricted by authorities or prevailing conditions.
